Aria was founded in 2004 by Chris and Michelle Lobato, originally as Old World Plaster & Stone. The company grew from a genuine admiration for the architecture of the ancient world — the limestone facades of classical Europe, the layered plaster walls of Italy, and the enduring craftsmanship of structures built to last for centuries. That reverence for timeless materials, artistry, and tradition remains at the heart of everything we create. Following the company’s relocation from Colorado Springs to Denver in 2018–2019, the moment felt right to evolve the brand into Aria Custom Design. Much like an Opera aria performance …our work is intended to transcend the ordinary — timeless in character, refined in execution, and designed to leave an enduring impression.

Aria was founded in 2004 by Chris and and his wife, Michelle Lobato. Chris is an expert in architectural stone treatments, Venetian plaster application, and mantelpiece design. Over the course of his almost decade-and-a-half of utilizing plaster and limestone, the same materials used across Italy and greater Europe for centuries, Chris has developed a number of unique techniques that allow him to satisfy almost any specific look a client may request, from intricate stenciling patterns to any number of wall textures or carved stone surfaces. He enjoys experimenting in his studio to expand his range of methods and results and has taught a number of aspiring artisans to become adept with these time-tested products. Chris takes his inspiration from old world European craftsmanship and the timeless buildings of classical antiquity. He is also an accomplished opera singer.
